Description

The Part Time Student Activities and Recreation Coordinator will report to both the Assistant Director of Student Activities and the Athletic Director, in the Division of Student Affairs. Time will be divided between Student Activities and Athletics responsibilities. Student Activities Responsibilities: Plan, implement and assess evening and weekend student programming. Advise student programming board: work with student co-chair to recruit, maintain and evaluate student members, develop team morale, guide in event development and implementation. Serve on the New Student Orientation (NSO) Planning Team: recruit and train Orientation Leaders, plan and carry out daily NSO schedules, assist with large scale programming including Fresh Start and Week of Welcome. Guide student organization officers in club event registration and planning. Recreation Responsibilities: Plan, implement and assess recreational and athletic programs. Oversee Fitness Center operations: schedule recreation facilities, supervise condition of facilities, coordinate and supervise approximately 15 student workers. Oversee intramural sports program: establish team rosters, schedule leagues and tournaments, enforce rules and regulations. Maintain inventory of and distribute supplies and equipment; assist with ordering supplies and equipment for athletic programs. General Responsibilities: Provide support for Student Affairs answering telephones, maintaining correspondence with other Penn State Departments, responding to inquiries about division and functional areas. Transportation to off campus activities, conferences, athletic events/practices. Development of marketing and resources including social media, fliers and other publications for student activities and recreation programs. Other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience; valid driver’s license; First Aid and CPR Certifications (university will provide training if necessary); knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets and other related software; ability to work evenings, nights, weekends and some holidays; successful completion of all required background checks, training and other onboarding procedures. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of/experience in student activities programs and student clubs/organizations. Knowledge of fitness equipment and student recreation programs.
