Science Dean’s Scholars Program


The Eberly College of Science seeks candidates for the position of Director of the Science Dean’s Scholars Program. The program is committed to the academic success of undergraduates in the college who began their studies at one of the Penn State campuses in the 2+2 Plan. The Science Dean’s Scholars Program provides scholarship, mentoring, and programmatic support to support the transition to University Park that leads toward graduation with an Eberly College of Science major. The Director provides oversight to all aspects of the program and reports directly to and works alongside the Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education in the Eberly College of Science. The Director is responsible for planning, budgeting, student recruitment, designing and coordinating relevant student engagement experiences and two week summer bridge, and mentoring students. The Director will team with an academic adviser for the SDS students, as well as other Eberly College of Science faculty and staff to design and implement elements of the program. The Director will also design and teach a fall semester seminar course for junior year Eberly College of Science students who are new to University Park. This is a half-time appointment and requires an individual who can effectively lead a program in a complex academic environment. Candidates are expected to have prior experience in an academic setting, experience with multicultural programs, and an ability to work effectively with students and faculty from across all Penn State campuses. The successful candidate should have a commitment to science education and diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to science education research. A Ph.D. is preferred; a Master`s degree and at least 4 years of related experience is required. Applications must be submitted electronically and include a cover letter and resume.
