The part-time Publicity Assistant will work with the Penn State Press Publicity Manager to ensure the Press and our publications are properly and effectively publicized and promoted to core audiences, ranging from academic libraries to scholars, researchers, and the general public. Specific duties include: Assist with organizing and mailing seasonal materials to media, including advance readers copies, letters, and catalogs, assisting with review copy mailings, including printing mailing labels and flyers and delivering materials to business office, maintaining a spreadsheet of media requests for review copies, maintaining spreadsheet of upcoming award deadlines, assembling tables of contents and sample chapters of new titles for web, drafting flyers for new and backlist books, scheduling and posting to social media according to social media schedule and style guidelines, scanning print reviews and creating pdfs of reviews found online; and uploading reviews to Filemaker and entering appropriate pull-quotes to appear on web. This position is a great opportunity for a motivated Penn State student to learn about book publishing and gain valuable publicity experience.
