Description

Penn State Harrisburg Office of Research and Outreach seeks to hire an energetic, conscientious, detail-oriented person with a commitment to teamwork in an often fast-paced, highly varied work environment. The office provides research administration support, primarily at the pre-award level, to the ~300 research active faculty and staff on our vibrant and growing campus. The Office of Research and Outreach serves the 5 academic schools (Behavioral Sciences and Education; Business Administration; Humanities; Public Affairs; and Science, Engineering and Technology) as well as others that apply for funding like the Institute for State and Regional Affairs and the Department of Continuing Education. The person in this position will manage the office’s grant/sponsored program activities and maintain an array of information resources under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Research and Outreach. Work with faculty and staff to prepare grants and proposals, including budgets and proposal documentation. Assist with preparation of proposals for external submission and post award activities such as setting up financial accounts and cost centers for other budget administrators to use. Facilitate discussions with faculty, finance office and school budget staff during pre- and post-award. Advise faculty and staff in interpreting and adhering to sponsor and University guidelines and regulations. Prepare budgets for proposals and maintain contract records and reports for sponsored projects. Assist in advising and consulting with faculty and staff, and administrative offices on proposal preparation and contract commitments. Serve as liaison with sponsors and other University offices on behalf of faculty and staff at Penn State Harrisburg. Work with external parties on faculty and staff agreements. Prepare reports and research-related documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Penn State grant reporting and financial systems. Oversee the work of one full-time staff and a part-time student worker with the guidance of the Associate Dean of Research and Outreach and the support of an administrative support coordinator. Attend professional development opportunities both internal to Penn State and external grant administrator organizations. To apply, upload a resume and cover letter. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Ideally, the person will have experience enough to qualify for the campus delegated signatory authority for grant submission, or that will be obtained within a year after arrival.
