Description

The University Libraries and Schreyer Honors College are recruiting a Human Resources Consultant. Reporting directly to the HR Strategic Partner for the units, the successful candidate will help provide support for approximately 1,000 individuals in full-time and part-time faculty, staff, and technical service employees, located at University Park and across the Commonwealth Campuses. The HR Consultant will work independently and directly with managers and employees. They may develop, plan, and implement various HR programs including recruitment, hiring, on-boarding and retention; employee/labor relations; professional development; rewards and recognition; compliance monitoring; and diversity initiatives. He/she will counsel employees and management on policies and procedures; represent the colleges on various initiatives and/or committees; initiate and/or respond to inquiries such as performance concerns; analyze data and prepare reports; and work with the Penn State Human Resources staff to implement new or continuing legal requirements or initiatives. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the financial office on a variety of matters including position management and payroll transactions. The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of broad concepts, policies, and procedures related to human resources and have experience responding to employee concerns. It is important for the individual to be customer-focused, maintain a high level of confidentiality, apply sound judgment, be focused on attention to detail, and possess superior written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be able to apply creative thinking to develop solutions; have experience creating written materials for distribution; possess a commitment to fostering diversity and equal opportunity; and have the ability to work independently and cooperatively with various levels of administrators, faculty and staff. Microsoft Office experience required. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
