Penn State Shenango invites applications for a full-time Information Technology Support Specialist 2 position. The successful candidate will be expected to provide tier 1 support for faculty, staff and students with walk-in requests, phone requests to the IT Help Desk, and in person requests of students with installing Office, campus Wi-Fi, and Antivirus software; provide tier 1 support for telephone and network issues; perform maintenance tasks on campus computers such as software updates, installing new software, and reviewing PII scans; set-up and configure new computers for faculty, staff, and the computer labs; assist with supervising work-study students; assist with server maintenance such as deploying software, managing user accounts, shares, etc.; provide specialized support for internal and external campus events including those scheduled during evening and weekend hours; provide IT support for basketball and volleyball games which includes setup of the sound system, iPads for broadcasting and recording the games, and Verizon hotspots to and the live internet feed; assist with maintaining the campus website; provide video conferencing support for Polycom and Zoom meetings both in and out of the classroom; and assist with the creation, implementation, and enforcement of IT policies. Standard hours for this position will be Monday- Friday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., with additional evening and weekend events as previously mentioned. Candidate must be able to attend evening and weekend events. This position will be required to travel locally to events. Campus Information: Penn State is a multi-campus public land-grant university whose instructional mission includes undergraduate, graduate, and continuing and distance education informed by scholarship and research. Penn State Shenango is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses state-wide as an integral part of the University. Shenango’s 14 acre-campus is located in downtown Sharon in picturesque Western Pennsylvania near the Ohio border. It is about one hour from Pittsburgh, ninety minutes from Cleveland, and twenty minutes from Youngstown, Ohio. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 500 students; about 60% are adult learners. The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as 6 baccalaureate degrees and 5 associate degrees. Students and faculty at Penn State Shenango have all of the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
