The Operating Systems Team in Infrastructure, a unit of Enterprise IT, is looking for a highly motivated and strong Linux Systems Designer to provide professional customer service and operational excellence. The position responsibilities include: Working in the Linux/UNIX sub team within the Operating System Team. Working with the Infrastructure Architect to align technology across EIT. Researching and implementing the latest IT best practices for modern infrastructure. Examples: Infrastructure as Code, Immutable infrastructure, and Containerization. Provide systems integration expertise during the design/development phase to integrate cloud platforms. Automate routine and repetitive tasks to streamline operations and create efficiencies. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The required knowledge, skills and behaviors for this position include: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including documentation for teams, knowledge base, and training. Proactivity in providing superior customer service to groups that depend on the systems. Have a strong desire to analyze/diagnose problems, be flexible, and maintain critical thinking abilities under pressure. Possess strong time-management and organizational skills. Have experience working with Python, Perl, Bash, or other scripting languages. Have experience of production systems administration experience on Linux based platforms. Candidates with experience in the following technologies will have priority: CFEngine, Ansible, GIT, RedHat, SAMBA, NFS, VMWare, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, VEEAM, SAN storage, iSCSI/fibre channel, Grafana, Nagios, AWS, Azure. NOTE: The 7x24x365 availability of campus technology services may require work outside regular work hours to solve operational problems or ensure proper functioning of services.
