Description

Penn State Altoona invites applications for a part-time Instructor position to teach one to three sections of CAS 100A (Effective Speech) for the spring 2019 semester. The successful candidate will teach pragmatic principles of communication as part of Penn State’s general education curriculum, with classroom instruction devoted primarily to the preparation and delivery of speeches, with some attention to small group discussion and message analysis. Instructors may devote classroom time to the role of speech in civic and political discourse, explore specific professional speech genres, or examine the implementation of rhetorical strategies in new media or other specific contexts, for example, as an individual course focus. The start date for this position is January 2019, and the one-semester contract is renewable. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field or possess commensurate practical experience in public speaking instruction.
