This position will support the development, operation, implementation and optimization of clinical and translational research, especially recruitment and retention of study participants from central Pennsylvania across the Hershey and University Park campuses. In this capacity, the successful applicant will support best practices and provide disease-agnostic resources in recruitment, retention and accrual optimization of research study participants. Two primary functions of this role are to serve as the institutional liaison and point of contact for the ResearchMatch ( study recruitment platform and the Trial Innovation Network. This position will report to the Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) funded through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Responsibilities: Work with directors and various clinical research teams at both campuses to plan, monitor and track Penn State feasibility assessments, protocol development, cohort discovery, StudyFinder summaries, recruitment and retention related materials (letters, flyers, retention measures, applications, eConsents), social media campaigns and overall strategy, materials, and metrics for clinical and translational research studies. Plan, coordinate, and document meetings and requests of the Trial Innovation Network (TIN) Hub Liaison Team, located at the Hershey and University Park campuses. TIN responsibilities include triaging incoming requests in partnership with the TIN Medical Director and Associate Dean for Clinical Research, completing feasibility assessments using informatics platforms (i2b2, TriNetX), liaising with study teams, assisting with site qualification visits, presenting at nationally attended informational webinars and handling any administrative tasks. Serve as the ResearchMatch institutional liaison by handling research requests, coordinating with the national Recruitment Innovation Center (RIC), IRB (Institutional Review Board) and study staff for the local registry of researchers and volunteers. Serve as an IRB accrual liaison to provide trainings and educational materials to IRB analysts on new resources and tools. Maintain documents/files related to study accrual consultations for the CTSI. Solicit and coordinate content for CTSI web site related to study accrual and retention plans. Work with directors, marketing/communications and investigators/project managers to develop, implement and evaluate tailored and targeted recruitment/retention communication strategies per NIH or other funding criteria. Develop and submit research proposals to compare effectiveness of informatics/evidence-base clinical research accrual strategies. Develop and maintain referral library on evidence-based research or boiler-plate language related to accrual materials and strategies for Penn State investigators and the national TIN consortium. Collect and disseminate descriptions of special population communities in central PA that can be used by investigators for research proposals. Maintain ongoing relationships with various internal and external research stakeholders including attending and representing Penn State CTSI at local, regional and national meetings and conferences. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree in clinical research, biomedical sciences, public health, or related field preferred, but not required. Experience as a research project manager or experience as a recruitment coordinator preferred. A demonstrated proficiency in planning, designing and problem solving in complex, unprecedented and multi-disciplinary environment(s) is highly desired. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of refunding.
