Description

The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) seeks a Multimedia Specialist to join our communications team. This person will be an integral contributor to a fast paced and growing team of specialists supported by an exciting $60 million Penn State investment in cyberscience research. Our ICS affiliated faculty and researchers form a vibrant intellectual community empowered to use the latest and most effective computational methods to make transformative discoveries for science and society. With ICS, you will have the opportunity to support this groundbreaking work. As our Multimedia Specialist, you will: assist with video production and editing; design graphics, such as flyers, images, and other visual assets, that help promote ICS activities and initiatives; collect photography and video content that helps to tell ICS’s story; manage the day-to-day implementation of ICS’s social media strategic initiatives; and create, deliver, and assess the effectiveness of HTML-based emails that promote ICS-related services, events, and other resources. Preferred qualifications and experience include: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field; and experience communicating with technical disciplines in higher education. Our successful candidate will need to demonstrate: knowledge of, and experience with, video production and editing, as well as photography; experience developing graphics tailored to different audiences and with different goals in mind; excellent attention to detail; understanding of best practices of visual communications; the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment; and the ability to understand complex scientific topics. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.
