The College of the Liberal Arts is looking for a creative graphic designer to join our web and creative services team. This position’s primary responsibility is working as part of a team to design and maintain the College’s portfolio of websites. Other duties include assisting with digital signage design, word mark development, photography, and more. Candidates must be able to turn client ideas into well-organized and professional-looking website design mockups that meets or exceeds their needs and fits within the College of the Liberal Arts and Penn State brand guidelines. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher , or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with website design architecture, responsive design, branding, accessibility, user experience (UX), photography, and inclusion design concepts is preferred but not required. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and website development practices is preferred. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to learn Penn State visual identity policy and design best practices, adapt to design trends, multi-task, prioritize, and achieve project deadlines. The ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment is required. The candidate should be open to feedback on their work and be comfortable working alongside web developers so that websites meet the client expectations and adhere to Penn State guidelines, standards, and accessibility requirements. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of graphic design tools, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. The candidate should be familiar with uses of social media and be interested in proactively researching academic website development trends and best practices. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
