The Coping and Regulation of Environmental Stress Lab ( in the Department of Psychology at Penn State University seeks applications for a Research Coordinator who will work primarily in our Harrisburg, PA research office, but maintain regular contact with University Park staff. The Research Coordinator will assist with implementation of a clinical research trial of a new prevention program for young adolescents exposed to chronic stress. The position will entail expanding our network of community partners, designing a recruitment strategy, and recruiting boys and girls aged 11-12 into the study. In addition, the Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the children’s assessment appointments, supervising local research assistants, and maintaining regular communication with participating families. The Building a Strong Identity and Coping Skills (BaSICS) program focuses on promoting positive youth development through teaching coping skills, positive youth identity, and community engagement. The successful candidate will have knowledge of Harrisburg, PA neighborhoods and community agencies, experience conducting research with human subjects, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and an interest in working with inner-city youths. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Spanish language fluency is preferred, but not required. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
