Description

The Purchasing Department in The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking Purchasing Assistants. Responsibilities include: Assist Purchasing Agents with RFP/RFQ preparation and issuance and other routine tasking; assist with invoice processing as needed; process purchase orders up to a predetermined limit and low complexity level; assist with various audits; assist and prepare standard operating procedures for the Purchasing Office; answer vendor questions, and manage vendor contracts and payments; and maintain filing and electronic file system based on payment to vendors. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An Associate’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or Accounting is desired. Experience in Oracle or SAP financial systems is preferred. Knowledge or experience in the following is required: Purchasing; purchase order and vendor invoice processing; RFQ/RFP issuance; and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. You must hold excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Effective problem solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and high volume purchasing levels are necessary to be successful in these positions. Candidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. These are one-year, fixed-term renewable appointments.
