Resident Directors (RDs) provide direct supervision of all Resident Assistant Directors (RADs). The RDs provide support to student participants. In addition, the RDs play a vital role in developing a positive, safe, and enriching program experience for RADs, RAs, and students. The RDs work closely with the Program Director, RADs, RAs, students, and professional staff. RD must have successfully completed at least two years of college and currently be enrolled or completed an undergraduate degree. The Resident Director Must Be: Committed to creating an inclusive environment where all students can reach their potential emotionally, socially, intellectually, physically and culturally. Open to efficient and effective communication with the program administrators, RDs, RADs, RAs, students and staff. Able to connect with the Program Director, RADs, RAs and students genuinely and significantly. Overview of Assignments, Responsibilities and Duties: The following provides an overview of the types of duties, activities and responsibilities which are assigned to the Resident Assistant. Assignments: The assignments include, but are not limited to: Supervision of the RADs. Supervision of up to 25 RAs. Oversee up to 25 students. Maintain a record of the RADs and RAs schedules and ensure all are on or off duty as assigned. Chaperone and supervise activities both on and off campus. Assist professional staff with preparation, organization and instruction of activities. Oversee RAs and students during mealtime. Overseeing weekend and evening activities. Supervise “late watch” rounds of the dormitory setting to enforce curfew and lights out. Enforce the rules, regulations and policies of facility housing as well as the information provided during staff orientation. Attend scheduled training sessions and staff meetings. Meet paperwork deadlines and/or other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager, including media releases and evidence of the required clearances. Specific Responsibilities: Assist students with checking in and out of housing. Keep accurate record of names, room assignments, activity sign ups, and all of the RADs/RAs/students’ schedules. Report any illness, accident or behavior problems to the Program Director in a timely manner. Respond to emergencies as appropriate and report to the Program Director immediately. Report cases of lost, damaged or stolen property to the Program Director. Report any maintenance issue and/or damages to equipment and/or rooms to the Program Director. Post, read and maintain, as confidential, all information, announcements or notes pertaining to the students. Communicate with the Program Director to plan and review new activities. Essential Requirements: Ability to communicate clearly in person and/or in written format; ability to relate to students and staff in a professional and productive manner; ability to coordinate and implement planned activities; ability to travel independently while performing all job duties; ability to independently complete all assignments, responsibilities and duties listed above; ability to walk for extended periods of time; ability to lift between 25-50 pounds with or without accommodation; ability to participate in physical activities; ability to independently complete all assignments, responsibilities and duties listed above. Training: Resident Assistant Directors will be required to participate in training sessions prior to the arrival of the students. Attendance at scheduled training days is mandatory for employment. Training topics include: Program Mission, Summer Programs expectations, curriculum overview, program guidelines, working with individuals with disabilities, prientation and training on specific disability groups, Etiquette and Communication skills, teambuilding activities, Diversity training, daily procedures, classroom support procedures, student safety, assistive technology. Period of Employment: Employment will require mandatory attendance at the RA training orientation days and the ability to work the full length of the program. Training/Orientation Dates: July 5, 2019, July 6, 2019, and July 7, 2019 (a.m.) Dates of Early Reach Academy: July 7, 2019 – July 26,2019. Salaries: The Resident Assistant position will be paid a daily rate of $170 per day. Any hours worked beyond the daily schedule due to programmatic needs will be paid at a rate of $17 per hour. Daily work will vary based on the Summer Program(s) schedule. Work will average 8-10 hours per day. Days off will be scheduled based on programmatic needs. Housing/Meals/Parking: Housing, meals and parking are provided. Payments: All employees will receive a paycheck via mail approximately 60 days from the end of the program.
