The Student Farm at Penn State is offering a paid position for a current Penn State student to work for the farm as a graphic design intern. Visit studentfarm.psu.edu to learn more about the program. Under supervision of the Sustainable Food Systems Program director, this intern will be responsible for overseeing the visual identity of both the Student Farm and SFSP, as it appears online, in print, and in official promotional materials. This position is part time (10-15 hours/week, dependent on current program needs) with some work completed remotely. The position if for the 2018-2019 academic year, with the possibility to work during summer 2019 and beyond. Responsibilities include: 1) Design and execute print and digitally formatted materials to market Student Farm and SFSP events; 2) Execute the Student Farm brand across all platforms to create a cohesive image; 3) Work simultaneously on 5+ projects based on Student Farm and SFSP needs; 4) Complete multiple revisions efficiently; 5) Must be adaptable and capable of piecing together disparate elements of a design created by previous interns, such as fonts, photographs, techniques, and styles; and 6) Ideally candidate is proficient in creating written PR content and social media management. The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and communications skills, a demonstrated willingness to work in a team environment, and the ability to work independently. Applicants must learn quickly, be able to prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines while enjoying a fast-paced work environment. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in both digital and traditional design mediums, and excel in creating content for print, web, and social media. Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc.) is essential. Experience with HTML code and website content management systems (ex: Wordpress) is desired, but not required. Previous experience in food systems or related fields is welcome but not as necessary as the motivation to learn. Own transportation, computer and internet access are required.
