The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) seeks an Advanced CyberInfrastructure – Research and Education Facilitator (ACI-REF) to join our Engagement team. You will be an integral contributor to a dynamic and growing team of specialists supported by an exciting $45 million Penn State investment in advanced research cyberinfrastructure (ICS-ACI). Penn State’s elite researchers use our high-performance research cloud to solve real-world problems by conducting simulations, data mining, and other high-performance computing operations. You will participate as an important member of our community of specialists to support this ground-breaking work. As our ACI-REF, you will work closely with researchers to understand their goals and workflows to allow you to evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions related to High Performance Computing (HPC), develop plans for implementation of ACI resources and ensure that their HPC needs are being met. Other competencies that are a plus: experience with high performance computing clusters; experience with multi-discipline researchers, knowledge of available ACI resources. Preferred candidates will have an advanced degree in an Engineering or Science discipline with experience in running scientific software in a university HPC setting. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.
