Description

The Communications Specialist is responsible for the communications strategy for the WorkLion Management Office (WMO), which supports the functional and technical needs of Penn State’s human resources and payroll system, Workday. The scope of the WMO includes business process analysis, functional design, testing, training, communication, documentation, and more. The Communications Specialist will plan, coordinate, prepare, and execute communications efforts related to the Workday system and associated process changes. This includes communication efforts such as website content, blogs, social media, news articles and press releases, email communications, presentations, and University-wide communications campaigns. Communication is directed toward a variety of audiences including governance groups, administrative offices, executive stakeholders, staff, faculty, and students. The specialist is expected to ensure effective, efficient communications based on audiences and objectives, measure performance, and proactively recommend improvements to leadership. The position will assist where needed in the rapid and thorough resolution of inquiries and issues brought to the WMO, and analyze Workday documentation for communication impact. The position reports directly to the WMO and works closely with other University communicators. We’re looking for a self-starter who can work independently with little supervision, but also as part of a team. We are actively committed to a culture of inclusion and respect; as such, we encourage candidates who thrive in a welcoming, multicultural environment to apply. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires exceptional writing and editing skills, creative outlook, significant attention to detail, ability to multitask, and ease with navigating a variety of audiences. Please submit three writing samples that demonstrate an array of audiences and objectives.
