The School of Hospitality Management (hhtp://hhd.psu.edu/shm) in the College of Health and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position. Areas of expertise include: food service management, food and beverage management, and/or food service marketing. The School offers three levels of academic excellence at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The School is undergoing exciting changes and growth at all levels and invites candidates to be an active part of this process. The School enjoys an engaged alumni association, active industry partners and advisors, a vibrant collection of clubs, trips, and other opportunities for student engagement, and a global reputation for excellence. Duties will include teaching hospitality management related courses, advising and mentoring, industry outreach, and maintaining a focused line of research and scholarship that will build the School’s strong research reputation, inform industry, and attract external support. In addition the successful candidate will have access to the School’s research and teaching facilities (e.g., kitchen, sensory lab, in-house café). The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate, the potential for teaching excellence, strong writing and research skills, the potential to publish in appropriate journals, and the ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants who have been involved with sponsored research projects, have an established publication record, have appropriate hospitality industry experience, and who can be appointed to the School of Hospitality Management’s graduate faculty are preferred. Penn State encourages interdisciplinary collaborative research and the School seeks to attract faculty with an orientation to collaboration. This position is a continuing, full-time, academic-year appointment. Salary is competitive and consistent with qualifications, experience, and professional record. The Pennsylvania State University is a land-grant research institution with approximately 43,000 students at University Park and 40,000 students at the University’s other campus locations. The School of Hospitality Management, an academic unit within the College of Health and Human Development (http://www.hhd.psu.edu), has approximately 700 undergraduate and 20 graduate students at the University Park campus.
