The successful applicant will perform laboratory research and clerical tasks focused on cancer research. Lab work will include molecular and cell biology techniques and rodent research, related to tumor biology. The Research Technologist will contribute to experiments in the laboratory to test, prove, or modify theoretical propositions on the basis of research findings of the laboratory, and be involved in collecting, compiling and processing of data. The successful applicant will apply standard scientific practices, techniques, and methods as appropriate for specific situation, correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow protocols through a series of related detailed steps or processes. The Research Technologist may coordinate operational activities in the research laboratory, and provide laboratory support services to researchers and technicians. The successful applicant will organize data/findings for use in technical reports, documents, or oral/written presentations, and will also assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards for lab operations to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory. The successful candidate will instructs others in protocols and instrumentation, and may supervise lower level staff, wage employees and/or students. The Research Technologist will coordinate ordering, maintaining appropriate inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, labware, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
