Description

Housing and Food Services is seeking a Sustainability Coordinator to plan, direct, and administer Auxiliary and Business Services/Housing and Food Services programs, policies and procedures in the area of sustainability. This position is responsible for analyzing causes of food waste and food insecurity and applying standard principles and practices to develop and implement plans for improvement. Ensures safe practices and environmental consciousness in all decisions. Will involve assignments with complex issues that are varied and difficult. Experience with 6 Sigma would be beneficial. This is a short cycle process improvement initiative. The Sustainability Coordinator will serve as liaison for Auxiliary and Business Services/Housing and Food Services to the Sustainability Institute. Develop A&BS/HFS programming from the Sustainability Institute’s direction and strategic focus. The Sustainability Coordinator will meet with members of student groups, conference clients and representatives from other departments contracting for services provided by A&BS/HFS to ensure that requirements and expectations are met or exceeded. In collaboration with Auxiliary and Business Services marketing office and A&BS/HFS leadership, the Sustainability Coordinator will develop a communication plan to market A&BS/HFS programs, innovations, and successes in the areas of sustainability, as well as confer with and interpret A&BS/HFS sustainability programming and services to students, faculty, staff and the public and the University at large. They will assist in evaluating the effectiveness of A&BS/HFS activities and support the implementation of organizational changes, policy and procedure revisions and new equipment applications to meet the constantly changing needs of the diverse population served. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
