- Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses - Penn State Behrend
Seeking students to perform a series of brief research projects for industry and government entities during 2018 and 2019. Research projects take the form of questions posed by businesses or government organizations. Questions will center on the oil, gas, and plastics industries, their related supply chains, related sustainability issues, and business and economic development implications. Students will be given the opportunity to answer questions individually or to join teams of students who are tackling larger questions. Students will be expected to work with minimal supervision but should seek faculty guidance as needed. Students may be required to interact with the clients, and therefore they should act with exceptional professionalism. This is a multi-campus initiative, and therefore students may need to work remotely with others from other Penn State campuses. Student researchers will be expected to swiftly research the requested information and present it in the appropriate format in a timely manner. Typical questions are expected to take 10-20 hours of work each. Clients will often provide deadlines. Hours will vary depending upon the questions and their required skill sets. No specific number of hours is guaranteed, however this work can be performed from any location. The position is overseen by Jake Marsh at Penn State Behrend. A recommendation for this position by a current faculty member will be required.
