Description

The Undergraduate Admissions Office is looking to fill a summer internship position reporting to the Visitation Team. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: provide assistance, planning, and execution with any visitation events, including but not limited to daily prospective visits, Spend a Summer Day, Life@State, and twilight tours; help with hiring, managing, organizing, training, and facilitating summer tour guides; assist with manual scheduling of summer tour guides when needed; provide information regarding University offerings to prospective students and their families; serve as a tour guide when necessary; attend meetings with UAO staff, student volunteers, and others; coordinate students into tour groups on-site for events; and assist with other projects and duties as assigned. Candidates should have strong attention to detail, possess strong organizational and planning skills, and be able to take the initiative to solve problems or conflicts and answer questions that improve visitor experiences. Individuals should also be comfortable with conducting peer-to-peer assessments and offering constructive feedback. An ability to supervise and motivate a diverse group of student volunteers and the ability to relate well to prospective students and their families is also required. Availability on Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. is highly preferred. We are seeking two candidates, preferably undergraduates or recent graduates of University Park, to work about 20-30 hours per week. This position will be from April 23 through August 10, 2018. Please keep in mind Penn State students holding multiple paying positions at Penn State cannot work more than 40 hours per week in total. Candidates interested in receiving credit for their internship experience may do so with the approval of the UAO and their academic department. Regardless if credit will be received, this internship will be paid at a rate of $10 per hour. Preference will be given to candidates with tour guide experience. Please include a resume and predicted work schedule (weekly calendar, not just a class list) in order for your application to be reviewed. You can add your predicted schedule to the “cover letter” spot on the job site.
