Description

This position is part of a team of researchers studying the effects of soils, vegetation, and deer herbivory on Pennsylvania forest ecosystems. Candidates must be expert in herbaceous and woody plant identification in Appalachian forests. Responsibilities include training field technicians in plant identification and sampling protocols and maintaining a vegetation database in Microsoft Access. Experience with soil sampling protocols and analysis preferred, use of data entry using field computers, and modeling plant species distribution and competitive interactions. The Postdoctoral Scholar is expected to develop manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals from this long-term study on forest vegetation dynamics. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field.
