Helping new companies get a good start with effective financial and administrative practices is critical to their growth and on-going success. Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Central PA’s premier provider of capital and management assistance to early-stage technology companies, is looking to fill a critical position on our management services team. Our Coordinator of Accounting and Admin Services (CAAS) provides direct, hands-on bookkeeping, accounting and office practice services and training to our client companies and entrepreneurs. This person will travel to start-up companies across Central and Northwestern PA, and help our clients convert from operating with a “checkbook and a shoebox of receipts” to running a reliable, professional, accounting and bookkeeping system. Daytime travel to visit companies is a critical component of this position. Regular overnight travel is required. Principal functions of the job are to recommend and implement the best procedures to ensure uniform and efficient accounting practices, internal controls, and compliance with regulations and client-company policy. The person provides leadership to our clients in the design and implementation of control systems and procedural changes and is responsible for efficient coordination and effective delivery of all accounting services. The person in this position will help our companies ensure the accuracy and timeliness of their external and internal reporting efforts associated with accounting such as cost, financial, payroll, and tax information. Clear understanding of GAAP procedures. He or she will coordinate and support the effective flow of accounting data through software systems such as QuickBooks and Sage in rapidly changing start-up environments. The CAAS will work with and provide guidance to the CEOs, CFOs and Presidents of the companies. Training experience is a plus. Experience and the specialized knowledge necessary to understand the accounting impacts of compliance with government and other regulations including SBIR, NIH and state and local agencies is preferred. Leadership and analytical skills in accounting, finance and business administration with demonstrated, adept management of information technology and change are essential for this role. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other business major as well as accounting/financial experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
