The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences of The Pennsylvania State University are seeking to hire a new tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have expertise and experience in metabolomics, metabolism, and/or relevant aspects of analytical chemistry, and be well versed in the analysis and interpretation of high-throughput and high-dimensional data. A PhD in a relevant discipline is required. The expectation is for a 75% research, 25% teaching assignment. This position features a competitive start-up package and outstanding research space. The faculty member will be expected to develop a strong, independent research program supported by extramural funding to provide novel discoveries relevant to important animal and/or human health concerns. The successful faculty member will actively participate in development of a high-profile, cross-disciplinary metabolomics research program. This may include collaborations with diverse investigators to undertake studies of metabolomics, potentially in concert with the microbiome. Also, as part of the leadership team of The Pennsylvania State University Metabolomics Initiative, the successful applicant will offer guidance and assistance for other investigators who are less familiar with metabolomics. Responsibilities of the faculty member will include training graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, and teaching an undergraduate course in metabolomics and a graduate level course. The successful applicant will become an effective member of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences ( Additional involvement may include engagement in appropriate interdisciplinary research and mentoring activities within and outside the College. The ability to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff is required.
