The Penn State World Campus Brand Experience Team is looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for social media to serve as an intern who will assist with our organic social media marketing initiatives. This team member will report directly to the Social Media Manager for Penn State World Campus and will be part of the Penn State World Campus Social Media, which is responsible for overseeing the development, curation, and management of social media content on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Google+. This is a paid internship position with a rate of $11/hour and can also be used for academic credit if approved by your academic department. Candidates will need to be available 30-40 hours per week during the Summer semester and 18-24 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. This internship will be available from May 2018 through May 2019 but may be extended for the right candidate. Responsibilities include: assist with the development and implementation of organic social media strategy; create and curate social media content, including copy and imagery; pull and analyze campaign analytics from each platform and other reporting tools to provide data-driven recommendations for social media strategy optimizations; assist with the development of standard reports for Social Media Team and/or marketing leadership; actively participate in weekly meetings with the Penn State World Campus Social Media Team; attend regular meetings with the larger Brand Experience Team and internal marketing partners to gain further understanding on how social media advertising fits within our larger marketing initiatives; and assist with new social media platform technology research and evaluation. Requirements include: passion for social media marketing and advertising; previous experience or coursework in marketing and/or social media; general understanding of social media for businesses and brands; experience with social media content development and curation; knowledge of social media best practices across platforms; ability to adapt content to different audiences and different social media platforms; experience with the process of developing marketing plans preferred; familiarity with social media and website analytics preferred; organized and detail-oriented; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Desired majors include: Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations, Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Bachelor of Science in Business, with an emphasis in Marketing and/or Management, or Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies.
