The Penn State Behrend Center for eLearning Initiatives is accepting applications for an Instructional Designer, Level 2, to work with faculty members on the design and development of online and hybrid courses offered at Penn State Behrend and via the Penn State World Campus. Duties include working collaboratively with faculty members to design, develop, and revise online credit courses and to function as a project manager, using a range of technology-enhanced systems to develop content for a variety of delivery modes. A solid understanding of pedagogical principles of instructional systems theory, an application of existing and emerging educational technologies, strong interpersonal skills, and an in-depth understanding of instructional design issues and best practices related to teaching and learning in distance/online courses are required. The ability to demonstrate to faculty members the advantages and disadvantages of various pedagogical techniques and principles is essential. Candidates should be able to manage the scope, timeline, and deliverables of multiple projects being developed simultaneously and must possess solid communication, collaboration, time management, and teamwork skills. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience designing business-related courses preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
