Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant for Penn State Football. Primary responsibilities include maintaining recruiting database; correspondence to recruits, high school staff, and parents; assisting the Director of Player Personnel with the admission and eligibility process for potential student athletes; processing NCAA paperwork for official and unofficial visits. Other responsibilities include composing written communications and proofreading documents for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and special formatting, ordering supplies, vehicles, hotels, etc. for visits to campus and assisting the Director of Player Development with community service projects such as Thon, Thon make a wish, Lift for Life, Uplifting Athletes and Hershey Children’s Hospital Visit. The successful candidate will be flexible and willing to embrace new opportunities. The selected applicant must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment, in a fast-paced atmosphere. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Bachelor's degree preferred. Essential skills: exceptional phone and customer service skills; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills; ability to multi-task, ability to prioritize appropriately and meet required deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel. Candidate must have knowledge of website maintenance and listserv databases. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
