The Graduate School is seeking Doctoral level students from Penn State to serve as Co-Directors in the Office of Graduate Equity Programs (OGEEP) for the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP). Co-Directors work closely with the OGEEP Office Assistant but report directly to the OGEEP Administrative Specialist and will periodically meet with the Senior Director to provide updates and review all SROP activities throughout the program. Co-Directors are responsible for the overall implementation of the 2018 SROP undergraduate research experience. Specific tasks include planning and overseeing all SROP professional development and academic support activities, providing supervision for undergraduate SROP participants, developing/maintaining collaborative working relationships with Faculty Mentors and Multicultural Directors, and assisting the Senior Director and Administration Specialist with OGEEP tasks as needed. Qualified applicants will have prior experience working with undergraduates in an advising/counseling capacity; have a record of conducting research within their field; and have a proven history of working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. Qualified applicants should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have an interest in/the ability to organize professional development events including a research symposium. This Summer’s SROP will from June 2 – July 28, 2018. Given that the SROP begins in the early part of June, selected applicants should note that planning for the program occurs in early May and Co-Directors appointments are from May 15 - August 11, 2018.
