The Penn State Office of Student Aid, Information Technology Team, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Programmer/Analyst to lead the development and maintenance of computing applications. This position will report to the Associate Director of Information Technology Services. The qualified candidate will have three primary responsibilities: Programming, Business Process Analysis, and Systems Administration. As part of Programming, the candidate will demonstrate proficient and comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures that specialize in design, development, implementation, modification, and support of new or existing software applications. As part of Business Process Analysis, the Programmer/Analyst will analyze business requirements, lead portions of large tasks or projects, interpret customer needs, and develop solutions using the appropriate technology. Systems Administration includes configuration, testing, and management of web servers and associated software. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Programmer/Analyst will have proficient knowledge of: web programming languages (ColdFusion, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages); MS SQL databases and SQL queries; HTML; CSS; and VBScript. Experience with or interest in working with Apache (Linux) web servers and Plone content management system desirable. Knowledge of Transact-SQL, SSIS packages, MS SQL Server Management Studio a plus. Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service, must be flexible, organized, analytical, and demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences. Candidates must be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
