Description

The Penn State Neuroscience Institute is seeking a conscientious, organized and detail-oriented individual to prepare and develop proposals and contracts for various federal, state, local agencies, private corporations and foundations. Preparation of proposals includes, but not limited to, completing administrative segments of the applications, editing and finalizing the budget, editorial review for proper grammar and adhering to formatting requirements, coordinate with other departments and sub-award collaborators to obtain Co-Investigators budget information, bio sketches and letters of support, and obtaining the necessary University and Institute approvals on proposals as well as obtaining and preparing institutional approval and compliance information for the IAF. This position will also communicate funding solicitations to the faculty of the Institute, attend meetings and training to keep abreast of updates in grant schedules and upcoming changes in pre-award administration and advise investigators in interpreting and adhering to Institutional, Agency and Federal grant guidelines and regulations. Cross coverage is also provided for other Proposal and Award Generalists in the Institute, as needed. The successful candidate must have the ability to prioritize and maintain large volume workload in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Outstanding oral and written communication skills; the ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners and a demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in confidential matters is required. This position will serve as liaison between the Institute, University Research Administration Office, other Departments and external sponsors. Experience with electronic proposal submission sites, REDCap, Excel, Word, SIMS Budget, IAF, and clinical trial grants are preferred. Enrolled in or graduate of Penn State ACES is a plus but not required. This job will be filled as a level 1, level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
