The Pennsylvania State University, Altoona College, Division of Arts and Humanities invites applications for a full-time instructor in Theatre Arts and as Technical Director starting July 1, 2018. The Technical Director is responsible for all physical aspects of the production and performing arts spaces for the Misciagna Family Center for the Performing Arts, including: maintenance, sets: technical direction and design for events and production; purchasing supplies; and supervising crews. This position is 48-week, three-year contract with the possibility of renewal. Penn State Altoona offers a competitive salary and attractive benefits package. The ideal candidate should possess technical knowledge of all aspects of theatre, including: lighting, including electrics; sound; carpentry; welding; properties; rigging; computer drafting; and theatrical production software. They must also be familiar with OSHA regulations and theater safety. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational, communication, and strategic problem-solving skills; the ability to work as a team member; strategic problem-solving skills and a commitment to understanding of an academic environment. He or she must be able to lift 50 lbs. and climb a ladder to excess of twelve feet with or without accommodations. This position required extended weekly hours, weekends and evenings. Applicants should possess 5+ years related experience and a B.A. or higher degree in related discipline. A preference will be given to applicants with advanced degrees and who possess the ability to teach Survey of Theatre Production Practice and Theatre Production Practicum courses, and act as Production Coordinator for the Integrative Arts major. Applicants should submit their CV, 3 letters of reference and sample of their recent work.
