Description

As a member of Penn State’s Office of University Development (OUD), you can play an integral role in one of the most respected and successful fundraising operations in the country. As Penn State looks ahead to a new era in fundraising, it is seeking a team-member committed to both the tradition of land-grant education and the future growth of our institution. This key front-line position is responsible for individual gifts in support of the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as well as projects within Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations, responsibilities include developing strategies for individual prospective donors, including coordinating volunteer and physician interaction with prospects. Develop an understanding of the educational, research, clinical and financial needs and goals of Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine. Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual prospects in consultation with faculty and Development staff. Direct and prepare major prospect proposals, and cultivation and solicitation materials. Plan, coordinate, and direct visits and special events for prospects and donors. Prepare briefing documents for senior administrators, volunteers and faculty. Oversee stewardship activities with assigned prospects. Report regularly on all fundraising activity through active implementation of the major gifts tracking/reporting/moves management system. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree plus five years of work related experience. Experience in an academic medical center or a large scientific/health care research institution is preferred. Knowledge or experience in planned giving is desired. Requires fundraising experience in higher education with emphasis on major gifts from individuals and organizations. Proven track record of successful major gift ($100,000+) solicitations. Ability to function independently, yet work in a centralized development structure. Ability to travel both locally and nationally. The successful candidate must possess exemplary interpersonal skills and a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences. This job is intended to be filled as a level 4 depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
