Description

Penn State Shenango is seeking to hire a part-time technical service laboratory Assistant. Responsibilities to include: general lab cleaning and maintenance, chemical inventory; inventory, restocking, and ordering of supplies; biohazardous disposal and hazardous waste control; setup and tear down of science labs and/or demonstrations; preparations of materials for labs; routine communication with science faculty members; maintenance of safety certifications; periodic research assistance; Syndaver maintenance; and other duties as assigned. Required skill sets: organization and attention to detail; strong time management skills; professional demeanor; self-direction and flexibility; and good interpersonal and communication skills. Physical requirements: manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 30 pounds with or without accommodation, and standing or walking for long periods of time. This is a non-teaching position with working up to 20 hours/week. Minimum requirements: basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, biology or related field and one-year or more as a laboratory or teaching assistant at the college-level; knowledge of laboratory safety procedures; background in biology and/or chemistry.
