The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) seeks a Communications and Outreach Lead for our excellent communications team. This person will be an integral contributor to a fast?paced and growing team of specialists supported by an exciting $60 million Penn State investment in cyberscience research. Our ICS faculty, researchers and students form a vibrant intellectual community empowered to use the most cutting edge and effective computational methods to make transformative discoveries for science and society. With ICS, you will have the opportunity to support and promote this ground-breaking work. As our ICS Communications and Outreach Lead, you will: direct the implementation of our communications strategy making proactive adjustments related to the institute’s evolving needs and goals; create and develop social media and multi-media communications that promote ICS in coordination with ICS leadership and staff; lead the researching, planning and implementation of multimedia products that meet or exceed the goals of our communications strategy; and develop optimal messaging strategies and appropriate message content for ICS stakeholder groups. Our successful candidate will demonstrate: team leadership and effective planning skills; expertise in communicating across and among diverse teams, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and compelling communications; advanced knowledge of the latest communications methods and strategies relevant to higher education; proven track record of producing communications products, especially social media, that promote and connect organizations with external constituents; and strong project management skills with the ability to work independently.
