The Global Programs Application Development team seeks a Programmer/Analyst to support two instances of the Terra Dotta Software (TDS – one for managing the online program brochures and applications to study abroad programs and scholarships for our Directorate of Education Abroad, and one for our university-wide travel registry called the Travel Safety Network, for our Directorate of Global Operations and Learning’s Global Safety Office with an XML feed into United Healthcare Global’s Travel Security Manger product), and all other custom applications used in Global Programs (including a ColdFusion Education Abroad Course Equivalency (CEQ) system that is used by study abroad students who want to get credit for an international course that they took while abroad, a ColdFusion card swiper/International Student Orientation check-in application to enable checking in students at events with swipes of their id+ card, and the development of a Global Portal to enable us to show on a map “Where in the World is Penn State” and display pins that drive to popups with details on the global engagement activities of Global Programs in that region of the world – projected to be developed in Tableau). This position will report to the Information Technology Manager. The qualified candidate will be the primary Programmer/Analyst for the two TDS instances in ColdFusion with a Microsoft SQL Server database backend and the custom applications on the Global Programs Application Development team. They will provide programming, administrative, and maintenance services for all this software and custom applications, and assist, as necessary, with other development projects as assigned. This job will be filled as a level 3. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Programmer/Analyst will have advanced knowledge of the Terra Dotta Software and ColdFusion; data manipulation of MS SQL Server databases and SQL queries; CSS, XML, and HTML/JavaScript. Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must be flexible, organized, analytical, and demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences. Knowledge of Travel Security Manager and Tableau is a plus. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
