Description

The College of IST seeks to fill one or more undergraduate student, part-time tutoring positions. We are currently looking for residential and online tutors for programming courses and also for a senior tutor to help run the online tutoring program. Responsibilities include coaching students as they practice programming skills and build new understandings in basic and intermediate Java courses—IST 140, IST 240, and IST 242—and also in SQL-based courses (e.g., IST 210); working with individual faculty members as a liaison between assigned courses and overall tutoring program; staffing weekly tutoring hours; meeting with students online by appointment; and communicating regularly with program coordinator to ensure operations are being conducted appropriately. Undergraduate work in the College of Information Sciences and Technology is required. The candidate must demonstrate coaching/tutoring skills and an ability to program in Java. Knowledge of other programming languages is desired. Submit a resume with all technical, programming, and tutoring skills listed.
