Description

WPSU, Penn State’s PBS and NPR public media station serving Central PA, is seeking a highly motivated graduate assistant. Our new Community and Educational Services team is focused on exploring educational media analytics and evaluating the impact of educational resources and community engagement activities focused on early childhood education. The graduate assistant will assess existing data collection methodologies used by public media organizations to measure impact; develop new strategies to evaluate community engagement and educational outreach events, educational resources, and other related initiatives; assess learning transfer in both formal and informal learning environments; analyze data collected to synthesize trends into meaningful, actionable recommendations to improve the impact of our community and educational services. Knowledge of and special interest in early childhood educational programming, informal learning spaces, K-6 literacy, STEM, and using media to serve early learning audiences is preferred. Past experience working with teachers and the Pennsylvania school system or experience assessing literacy programs for at-risk children is a plus. Full-time enrollment in a Master’s or Doctoral graduate program, preferably in: Human Development and Family Studies; Curriculum and Instruction; Educational Leadership; Teaching and Curriculum; or Learning, Design, and Technology. The successful candidate must possess strong research skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes. The successful candidate must also be available to occasionally attend and evaluate community engagement activities in the evening and weekends. This is a 20 hour per week (half-time) assistantship and includes tuition and stipend.
