The Eberly College of Science Office of Diversity and Inclusion is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant. The Administrative Support Assistant will report to the Associate Dean for Science Diversity and Inclusion. The selected applicant must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Responsibilities include: administration of programs and activities that support the recruitment, retention, mentoring and professional development of underrepresented students in Science and students within the First Year in Science and Engineering (FISE) House. Handle inquiries from parents, prospective students and current students. Serve as lead for a limited number of office communications including newsletters and social media. Maintain the website for the Office of Science Diversity and Inclusion. Manage and reconcile budgets for the office. Process appointments and payroll for wage payroll and work-study students. Provide general administrative support, including maintaining calendars and scheduling meetings. Work effectively with other offices in the college and across campus in support of activities of the office. Create and distribute reports regarding the Eberly College of Science Diversity Strategic Plan Initiatives. Essential skills: exceptional phone and customer service skills; excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills; ability to work with confidential information; ability to multitask and coordinate several projects simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and monitor deadlines. Flexibility and willingness to embrace new opportunities and challenges will be critical. Proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel; desktop publishing and web software preferred. Preferred skills: excellent working knowledge of University business systems including LionPath, WorkLion, and IBIS. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
