Description

Job responsibilities: The engineering laboratories technician has duties that include the implementation of a 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) program in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Laboratories. These and other duties include: train students to safely operate engineering lab equipment, organize and maintain engineering lab equipment and components, test engineering lab equipment (with supervision), fabricate parts and fixtures for testing, maintain inventory of supplies and materials, write purchase order requests for supplies and materials, advise on equipment and tool purchases for the machine shop. Requirements and Skills: completion of a machinist state apprenticeship, proficiency in the operation of computer numeric controlled machinery (mill and lathe), proficiency in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, solder, and gas welding) of aluminum and steel.
