A position is available for a Summer Lab Intern in Basic Science Research Laboratory in the Heart and Vascular Institute. The successful applicant will have the ability and experience to do the following: find, read and summarize published literature, assist with editing manuscripts and grants, complete physiology learning modules as directed by the PI, perform submaximal and maximal exercise testing using metabolic cart, administer pulmonary function tests and 12-lead EKG, organize dietary interventions for research studies, set up and calibrate equipment for a variety of different research studies, assist with study participant instrumentation, operate computer and annotate files during studies, assist with post study clean up, including equipment cleaning and sterilization, prepare blood samples for freezing and subsequent analysis, assist with stocking and monitoring supply levels, assist with data analysis (blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow, respiratory parameters, ultrasound, nerve recordings, and magnetic resonance imaging) and input to Excel and perform descriptive statistics using Excel and compile demographic information. This job will be filled depending upon the successful candidate`s competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor`s degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience preferred in biological science or related field.
