The Financial Assistant will be part of the Finance and Business Office at Penn State Mont Alto, working with students and staff on their financial activities. Typical job duties include: performing student accounting functions; accepting payments related to student receivables (credit and non-credit), posting to appropriate systems; performing non-student receivable functions; performing cash handling functions; preparing deposits and enter Reports of Cash Receipts; assisting staff in supported units with inquiries, resolving issues and/or direct questions to appropriate individuals in office; filing and/or imaging documents as directed by supervisor; gathering files and documents requested for audit purposes; post, sort, and distribute mail; assist with office management tasks, answer phones, order supplies, and manage calendars. Ability to understand and apply compliance of University and campus policies in meeting the organizations’ financial needs. The successful individual will have demonstrated a willingness and ability to collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to promote efficiency and productive work environment, have a track record of initiative to participate on projects, and will be self-motivated. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to multi-task are essential. Experience in a university setting strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Accounting systems and Student systems are highly desirable. Anticipated start date of April 16, 2018. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
