The Student Affairs office with Penn State Shenango is looking to fill the part-time Student Government Treasurer job which will become vacant at the end of this semester. This is a paid position and one that is appointed by the Student Affairs staff rather than elected by the overall student body. The position is capped at 12 hours per week and the pay rate is $9.50/hour. Responsibilities include: Keep an accurate record of all money received and disbursed for all campus clubs/organizations. Monitor the funds for each student organization. Attend all weekly SGA meetings (held Mondays from 12:15 p.m. - 1:20 p.m. in SH 108) and prepare/present a treasury report for the regular meetings. Serve on and actively participate in at least one standing committee. Assist in the general operations of the Student Government Association. Review all financial forms that are submitted through OrgSync by clubs/organizations and process payment requests. Work closely with Student Affairs staff to process various forms for the University in regards to club/organization financial transactions. Hold regular office hours. Participate in and present at club training- held in August and January. Make regular trips to the bank to make deposits. Train the incoming treasurer. Qualifications include: Good organizational skills. Be a good communicator- must be able to communicate with club members as well as University staff members both at Shenango and University Park. Be on campus most days of the week. Have some knowledge of accounting. Be able to maintain clear and accurate records. Have good computer skills - familiarity with OrgSync is highly beneficial. Be able to handle difficult situations (ex. Telling a club their funds have been frozen). Preference will be given to someone who can be in the position for 2 or more years.
