Description

The ECRC has existed at Penn State for over 50 years, and houses the world’s largest collection of this species (http://bit.ly/2nnfC3f) with over 70,000 deposits. It also serves the scientific community by providing several thousand tests each year for isolates sent to Penn State. We are looking for an undergraduate student to assist the ECRC’s full time technician with media preparation, set up for diagnostic procedures, and general upkeep of the laboratory. With gaining experience, the undergraduate technician may initiate an independent research project as well, if desired. Preferred applicants will be those pursuing a B.S. in a major within the College of Agricultural Sciences or Eberly College of Science, and have taken at least MICRB 202. Skills in sterile technique, and a high attention to detail, will be essential. This position is expected to take approximately 6-8 hours per week, and will start at $9.50/hour.
