Description

Data Center Services (DCS), a unit of Enterprise Information Technologies (EIT), is seeking a Manager of Data Center Technical Operations (TechOps). Reporting to the Director of Data Center Services, the successful candidate must be able to lead a highly technical team of systems administrators and systems design specialists/engineers. This position must possess a working knowledge of enterprise networks, firewalls, servers, storage hardware, and data center building hardware automation systems, along with the ability to direct work in these areas. The successful candidate must be a leader that has our colleagues/customers best interest in mind, with a strong service management background and the ability to engage large groups with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Experience with Palo Alto, Cico, Extreme (formerly Brocade), Dell, EMC, Nexenta, and IBM hardware, Windows and Linux operating systems, and VMware and Hyper-V virtualization platforms are highly desirable. The ability to produce business cases and metric driven recommendations for new projects or system improvements, along with excellent oral and written communications skills are required. This position will be working with units across the University on compute and storage optimization and consolidation, either via physical moves of hardware, virtualization or moving workload to the cloud, while maintaining the appropriate data security requirements. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Additional experience managing or leading an enterprise specialized team preferred.
