Data Center Services (DCS), a unit of Enterprise Information Technologies (EIT), is seeking a Lead Facilities Engineer/Mechanical Engineer. This position reports to the Director of Data Center Services, and must be an experienced mechanical engineer that is able to lead a team of engineers and technical professionals. This position requires an engineer experienced with building mechanical and plumbing systems to provide technical expertise to support operations of University data centers and critical facilities. The successful candidate must possess a strong understanding of redundant systems operations. Duties include supervision of 5 personnel, review and critique of design documents, providing input to design professionals for projects on the University Park and Commonwealth campuses related to data centers and critical facilities; preparation of special studies, written reports and project scoping documents; developing new and implementing existing standards for the University’s building systems; providing technical expertise to resolve complex system operational problems and deficiencies; working with trades supervisors and crew to improve building operation; participating in the Owner’s project acceptance process to ensure successful transition from design, construction and commissioning to occupancy and continuing operations. The successful candidate must be a leader that has our colleagues/customers best interest in mind, with a strong service management background and the ability to engage large groups with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Knowledge and understanding of building automation and control systems, relating to data centers, are required. Previous data center experience is highly desired. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
