Description

The Paul Robeson Cultural Center (PRCC) at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, seeks an Assistant Director, who is responsible for areas such as educational program development and implementation, student advocacy and advising, and outreach to the campus community regarding issues of comprehensive racism, social justice, cultural enrichment, and inclusion. Additionally, this position supports the Director in all day-to-day matters within the scope of maintaining the administrative function of the PRCC. The Assistant Director has major responsibilities that include, but are not limited to: oversight and implementation of the BLUEprint Peer Mentoring Program; student advising and advocacy; research and program assessment; supervision of two BLUEprint Graduate Assistants and a full-time BLUEprint Program Coordinator; applications for educational grants and program certification; and coordination of campus efforts for the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP). Serve as a professional liaison with several campus departments and serve as the PRCC representative on several University-wide committees that specifically address issues of diversity and inclusion at Penn State. This position will have a large role in sustaining the BLUEprint Peer Mentoring Program, which is sponsored by the PRCC and is formally certified by the College Reading and Learning Association, focuses on offering academic, cultural, and social support to first-year and change-of-campus students, particularly those who identify as students of color, through peer mentoring. Serving an average of 100-125 undergraduate students per academic year, BLUEprint is a structured student support program that operates under a significant amount of administrative and logistical coordination, some of which takes place on evenings and weekends. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A successful candidate should be knowledgeable of the first-year and student of color college experience, student advocacy, educational and co-curricular programming, and student support programs, as well as demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting students of color and other minoritized student populations.
