Description

The successful candidate will participate in the direct supervision of the Deputy Sheriff Basic Training Program, which includes the immediate oversight, coordination, and scheduling of instructors, training attendees, campus facilities, off-campus housing, and all other aspects of a full-time residential training academy. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring the day-to-day conduct of the Deputy Sheriff basic training program participants complies with the requirements, rules, and regulations as set forth by the Deputy Sheriff Education and Training Board/Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The position requires a Master`s degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field but a well-qualified applicant with a Bachelor`s degree may be considered. Prior teaching and/or training experience is required. The successful candidate will be required to teach in one or more of the following fields of training: Law, Professional Development, Physical Conditioning, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Security, Sheriff and Deputy Safety, Investigations, Emergency Services, and Application of Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Competencies. A working knowledge of adult learning principles is a necessity. Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work within strict time lines are required. Experience in compliance and working with state oversight agencies is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will become an integral part of a team-oriented working environment. The ideal candidate’s qualifications include administrative experience, law enforcement experience, working within budget guidelines, and familiarity with the duties and work of Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs.
