The Director of the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) reports to the Vice Provost for Educational Equity and is responsible for directing the development, coordination, and administration of the MRC. Penn State is committed to ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the success of a world-class research institution—and the Multicultural Resource Center is critical to fulfilling this vision. The MRC provides individual counseling and educational services for undergraduate students at University Park and assists students in meeting the challenges associated with attaining a degree at a major research institution. We are concerned uniquely with supporting the academic and developmental goals of students from traditionally underserved and underrepresented populations. The Director identifies, establishes, and evaluates program goals; develops program policies and procedures, and evaluates program services; compiles reports on program activities and services; develops and administers program budgets; hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates program staff. The Director communicates program activities, services, and outcomes to institutional administrators; represents the Multicultural Resource Center to University colleges, academic support units, and external agencies; pursues opportunities to expand the program by writing grant proposals (e.g., TRIO). Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Ph.D. degree is preferred. Interested applicants must possess a demonstrated ability in program management and coordination, and experience working with diverse populations of students, faculty and staff.
