This position is responsible to assist with the supervision, administration, and training of technical-services employees to ensure that quality janitorial cleaning procedures are followed. The position is considered essential and is required to be present during campus emergencies (e.g. bad weather events). This position supervises 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift employees working seven days a week. This position includes the following job responsibilities: training new and retraining existing staff in established cleaning procedures; inspect and ensure quality and quantity standards are met; administer existing preventative maintenance and maintenance programs; may coordinate snow removal. Assisting in maintaining inventory ensuring adequate distribution of materials to job sites. Controlling budget; provide backup information for budget preparation when requested. Inspecting and reporting physical changes in work areas or any required maintenance or repair of equipment. Initiating work orders. Making recommendations to supervisor pertaining to cleaning methods or procedures, material or equipment additions, and organizational changes. Assisting in the administration of Union-University agreement, human resources procedures and policies including discipline. Helping settle disputes and participate in grievance process. Ensuring security, safety and proper working condition and protective equipment for assigned buildings. Investigating accidents. Reviewing safety data and making recommendations for improvement. Maintaining time records, time cards, work orders, reports, etc. Developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers. Resolving issues or seeking guidance in handling issues. Aid in the hiring, interviewing, supervising, training and evaluation of assigned staff and technical service employees. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
